BRIDGE OF THE AIR
~~~
Of Bifrost’s arch,
(Bridge of the air)
Valhalla-called,
(Valkyries’ thrall)
Take deathly ship
(It leaves the slip)
To Avalon;
(And then beyond)
See Blessed Isles
(By faerie wiles)
While Eden falls-
(Valhalla-called)
As heroes sport
(In mythic thought)
With naiads fond.
(To Avalon)
Come with me where the life is free
In the name of a far and a lost country,
Walk the bridge of storied air
And where you land is your affair.
Mortals dwell
(In peace and well)
Elysian Fields,
(Such powers wield)
And demi gods
(Beyond the odds)
Of misty climes;
(In fading chimes)
Where danger strikes
(In scream of shrikes)
Achilles’ heels
(Elysian Fields)
Where Arthur dreams
(In fluent streams)
In poets’ rhymes.
(Of misty climes.)
Come with me where the death is bright
In the mystic haze of minds’ delight,
Tread the bridge of storied air
If such venture you might dare.
