Here's the deal.
I'm running two contests, one with an
entry fee, the other free.
RULES FOR BOTH CONTESTS

(2) Choice of subjects; "Candle Iron" or
"Gemdrake". (See note at bottom of this page for more on this.)
(3) Any style.
(4) E-mail submission to sodgers@tassie.net.au .
(5) Include your name or pseudonym in the body of the e-mail.
1. Put either Free Poetry Contest or Fee Poetry Contest in the subject
line, depending on which one you want to enter.
2. Deadline for
entries last day of April, 2002.
ABOUT THE FREE CONTEST
No entry fee. The prizewinner will be published on this page and
will win a book prize. More than one prize might be awarded, depending on the
number and quality of entries.
ABOUT THE FEE CONTEST
Entry fee
$AUD 3.00 per poem
OR
$AUD 10.00 lets you enter 4 or more to a maximum of 10.
Entry fees to be paid by PayPal or otherwise by arrangement.

Two prize winners will be published on this page and will share the
prize money.
How
much is that?
It will depend entirely on the entry fees received. So, the more poems entered
in the fee competition, the better the prizes will be.
Of course, you could enter both competitions if you want to, but
please do so by separate e-mails.
If you're under 18, put your age in the e-mail. The judge(s) will
take that into account.
Now
for that Note on subject matter, promised above.
My fantasy novel Candle Iron (shortlisted
for the Aurealis Awards in 2001 and listed on the WAYBRA Awards for older
readers) features both a gemdrake and a candle iron. If you've read the book,
you'll know what these are. If you haven't read the book, never mind. Use your
imagination. It doesn't matter whether you write about my gemdrake and
candle iron or about the one you imagine.
Now, on with the show! And come back to this page now and again for
updates on numbers of entries.
